Quick update-it's currently 4:01 AM US time, we are about to leave for the school to meet the vans who are taking us to the airport! I stayed out until about 1 last night, went to bed around 2, and woke up about 10 minutes ago. I. Am. Exhuasted. BUT it was worth it for my friends :D
I have a layover in Newark for 5 HOURS. Gahhh. And then a 14 hour flight! So, for the next day or so, there may be no update. Keep checking in, though :D And thanks for reading/following my journey :D

My Horrible Interdependence
My voyage to China is rapidly approaching, and I am coming (more and more) to the slap-in-the-face realization of how extreme my interdependence is. Literally. Every time I go to pack more into my suitcase, I find myself avoiding the gifts because I have NO IDEA who any of the gifts are for. Even some of the super straightforward ones.
It's too the point where that's pretty much what I have left to pack. What I put in my carry on depends on what fits/doesn't fit into my suitcase AND obeys the 50 pounds weight limit. Awesome. And by the way, self, it's Wednesday. I leave Saturday morning at 4:30 AM. Good, good.
My dependance on others doesn't end there, though. The simple task of doing laundry haunts my nightmares. I have NO IDEA if I will have access to a real washer and dryer, and even if I do, I have minimal idea of how to actually use them. Cool. I have even less idea of how to use laundry detergent sheets/liquid packets to handwash my things in a sink of some sort. It's going to be interesting. I tried to buy 50 pairs of white underwear (our school uniforms are white). I succeeded in buying about 20. My plan is to do laundry on Fridays so that I can hang dry stuff throughout the weekend...
Again, I'm not done with being a clingy child. I'm so nervous about flying, I will be sitting in the middle of the one teacher chaperone and my close friend. So that while I freak out about dying in an airplane, and how I can't breathe, my "surrogate/adopted mother" will be there to comfort me. I'm actually four years old.
Thanks for reading through my adventures. Over and out.

The Packing Process
My packing process has been interesting. My trip is for 7 weeks, but I don't have enough room in my suitcase for 7 weeks worth of clothes! Also, on school days, I'll be wearing a uniform. There leaves room in my suitcase. Bear in mind, the weight limit is 50 pounds. I need to leave room for gifts to bring home from China, while also packing 7 weeks worth of toiletries. As a girl. With long, curly hair. And an obsession with being clean. Awesome. I leave the 23, and I still don't even have everything to pack! So, that's where we stand with this whole China process :) Stay tuned for more behind the scenes of an American exchange student XD
